SQUARES ART objects – data and art form a fascinating symbiosis …

SQUARES ART objects consist of colourful, systematically arranged squares that effectively illuminate rooms.

The objects, with their maximinimalist elements, capture meaningful moments in a unique way, and any date, as well as any combination of year and date, merge artfully into a harmonious whole in these objects – thus, each work becomes a new composition and tells its own story.

The respective dates are visualised by positioning the squares in relation to each other – based on the principle of an analogue clock. This visualisation concept is unique worldwide and makes the objects special gifts for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and numerous other occasions. The range of variations is almost limitless, because even with small SQUARES ART objects, it is possible to visualise numbers between 0 and a trillion.

… a tribute to an exemplary joint project by Lélia Wanick Salgado and Sebastião Salgado. The project began with the founding of the environmental organisation INSTITUTO TERRA in 1998, which became a leading global non-profit organisation for environmental restoration and reforestation of the Atlantic Rainforest. The institute has already planted more than 3 million trees, restored around 2,500 springs and is actively involved in environmental education and sustainable rural development.

Lélia Wanick Salgado and her husband Sebastião Salgado, who passed away in 2025, achieved great things during their time together and, along with the numerous other supporters of the project, are an encouraging and wonderful example of the impressive power of cooperation.

The objects from the series THE COLOURS OF TOGETHERNESS not only have a special effect, but also convey a very beautiful message that is becoming increasingly important: togetherness instead of opposition – the simplest formula for creating positivity, starting with relationships, families and businesses, through to the coexistence of peoples, and even our treatment of nature and the environment.

For the works in the series THE COLOURS OF TOGETHERNESS 1998–2025, I am waiving any fees, and the works are available in seven formats as part of the SQUARES ART project.
